The chief technology officer (CTO) of the US-based cross-border blockchain payment services giant Ripple, David Schwartz, has said in a statement that the leading American multinational tech company Amazon is definitely planning to federate sidechains of XRP Ledger, Ripple’s global payments network .
In an interview with Thinking Crypto, the CTO stated that the large e-commerce company certainly has the infrastructure to make this possible. He said that:
“Amazon definitely could … you know, they certainly have the infrastructure to make this possible. What we have to do is develop software that is clean and organized enough. Then I think it could be very competitive.”
The architect at XRP Ledger spoke about the platform and said the end point of the discussion is that it is really easy to build on this platform.
These remarks from Ripple’s CTO came a month after he proposed the addition of federated sidechains. The real purpose of these federated sidechains is that they could be used for the implementation of smart contracts and the security of XRP Ledger is not compromised either.
While unveiling futuristic plans, the chief technical officer said the biggest use case for them could be the decentralized financial market (DeFi). He made a clear claim that this is not part of their agenda and it is not a Ripple thing. He said that it is up to the community to decide whether or not to add this new feature to the XRP ledger. In addition, he said that the people of the world need multi-cross payments.
While speaking about the importance of the company’s native digital currency, XRP, he claimed that seventh cryptocurrency could be used for liquidity purposes as people need it, even the world’s leading digital currency, Bitcoin, may successfully take power in the future.
