More than a quarter of Australian crypto users surveyed in October plan to use digital assets as part of their Christmas gifts this holiday season.
The survey by the crypto wallet and service provider Crypto.com surveyed 2,020 Australians aged 18 to 59 years. Of those who had used crypto in the past 12 months, 26% responded that they would consider giving something away for Christmas or buying crypto-related gifts.
More than half, or 53%, of those looking to buy crypto gifts said they would buy crypto assets like Bitcoin (BTC) or Ethereum (ETH) for loved ones this Christmas.
The survey also found that crypto merchandise like themed socks or hoodies could be popular gifts this holiday season, as 43% of those planning on buying cryptocentric gifts said they were looking for these items.
Around 42% said they are considering buying coin vouchers and 35% are considering buying crypto books. Around a third of those surveyed said they were thinking about giving away non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
The youngest high school graduate Justin El-Sheikh, 18, from Melbourne plans to give away crypto this year. He told Cointelegraph that he plans to provide his friends with a wallet and a small amount of Bitcoin to help them get started.
“Bunch of my friends hear about crypto and say they want to get involved but don’t know how to start. It’s a fun and thoughtful gift idea, ”he said.
Karl Mohan, General Manager Asia-Pacific at Crypto.com, said, “Australians are clearly keen to adopt cryptocurrencies and incorporate their use into daily expenses,” before adding that Australians “are gradually increasing their use of cryptocurrency increase and “blockchain technology.”
